Echo – Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
Echo ("we", "the app") is an Estonian language practice app. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the app.
1. Microphone and speech recognition
Echo uses your device's microphone only when you choose to practice pronunciation. Speech is processed by your device's built‑in speech recognition (e.g. Android or iOS system services). We do not record, store, or send your voice or any audio to our servers. The app uses speech recognition solely to check your pronunciation during practice and to give you feedback.
2. Data we store on your device
Progress (e.g. words practiced, scores) is stored locally on your device. We do not collect or store this data on our servers unless you use a feature that explicitly syncs data (e.g. an optional account).
3. Data we do not collect
We do not collect voice recordings, audio, or personally identifiable information through the app unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g. by contacting us).
4. Third‑party services
Speech recognition is provided by your device's operating system (Google, Apple, etc.). Their privacy policies apply to that processing. We do not control or receive your raw audio from these services.
5. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
6. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy or Echo's use of the microphone, contact us at the support address listed in the app or on the Google Play store listing.
